Welcome to Nowhere

the past is our present
Dusty museum displays make history seem dry and far away. (However we do have a few to appease the austere academic types). Nowhere aims to bridge that distance by living as if we’re still in the midst of those long-gone days.

We cordially invite you to step back in time with us to experience life in the Wild West as it was way back when—in the 1890s. We welcome you to discover our history traditionally by touring our must-see museum (housed in our stately courthouse), or experience our culture, customs, and stories by conversing with any of our costumed citizens. Every resident is well-versed in our town’s storied lore—up to the 1890s that is.

Interested in Nowhere’s historical journey to becoming a fully-functional living history town? Don’t bother asking the townsfolk, (who know better than to break character). You’ll find a small, out-of-the-way display on our more recent development in our museum. Or you can ask any of the designated attendants in our information center. Or if you’re lucky, you can converse with our resident historian, Monalea—who you may find managing her museum gift shop or up in our courthouse’s attic archives.

Things to Do in Nowhere

Welcome to the Wild West as the Wild West was way back when...
We Live Our History
Our entire town is devoted to preserving the past in a way that makes history come alive.

Around every corner of our perfectly preserved original building you’ll find our costumed residents re-enacting local historical events, or simply mining, farming, shopping, and talking as if they were still in Nowhere as it first was over 100 years ago.

See an actual Western town at work with continuous demonstrations to enjoy—and join in—at our local newspaper, schoolhouse, blacksmith, grist mill, mission church, cattle ranch, cotton farm, native American outpost, and of course, our notoriously empty gold mine.

Keep your eyes peeled as you stroll down Main Street and you might just see a bank robbery in progress, horse thieves getting apprehended, or even witness a showdown shootout! (A shootout at high noon is guaranteed, but you never can tell when another one might crop up throughout the day!)
Shop & Play the Nowhere Way
After a beer and a bite at one of our fine saloons, spend your historical day shopping at 1890s prices in our general store, dress shop, milliner, ice cream parlor, confectioners’ shop, photo studio, and more.

(Just be sure to change your modern money into Nowhere Dollars at the information center inside the Courthouse museum first.)

Looking for a little more excitement? Ride the rails behind our classic steam engine where you’ll have a front row seat to a great train robbery.

Try your hand at striking it rich with a dark, cool tour of our deep, dank mine shaft, then pan for gold in the stream that powers our mill.

Getting ornery and unruly? You might just find yourself behind bars in our local jail (assuming someone in your party has paid to have you arrested).
Experience 1890s Living
Fully immerse yourself in 1890s living with our deluxe weekend package, which includes period costumes and so much more.

Try your hand at bartering with a selection of provided goods, including furs, eggs, produce, and more. Gain hands on experience with in-depth mini-apprenticeships at any of our historic business, including the blacksmith and the sheriff’s office. Hone your marksmanship in our shooting gallery, our archery range, and our ax-throwing arena. Mosey on down the mountain trails via a stagecoach, wagon, or horseback adventure.

When you’re ready for a little shuteye, take your pick of our luxurious (for the 1890s…) hotel rooms. Or sleep out under the stars in an Outpost Twenty-Two tepee, or bunk down in a private wagon in our wagon circle. All weekend stays include regular chow at our chuck wagon buffet, as well as meal tickets to exchange for sarsaparilla, fry bread, ice cream, and other tasty cowboy treats.
